"ERP
System for the Jewellery Industry" Receives Fantastic
Feedback

(Hong Kong, 21 August 2003) More than
50 professionals from the local jewelry industry today attended
a seminar organized by Objective Management Consulting ("OMC").
The seminar, entitled as "ERP System for the Jewellery
Industry", explained how the jewelry manufacturers can
best utilize Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) solutions to
respond the changing business environment swiftly. This event
has elicited a positive and enthusiastic response from the audience.
The seminar welcomed two speakers, Dr. Oliver Yau, managing
director of OMC, and Ms. Karen Chow, who has extensive experience
in the local jewelry industry. During the seminar, they explored
various challenges faced by the jewelry manufacturers, shared
with the participants ways to solve the problems occurred during
computerization and introduced the ERP system for them. Many
audience expressed interest in the ERP system demonstration
immediately after the event.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Oliver Yau and Ms. Karen Chow pinpointed
the local jewelry manufacturers' difficulties in managing multi-locations
operations and implementing computerization respectively. Dr.
Oliver Yau said, "The workflow of manufacturing jewelry
is overwhelmingly complicated and web-liked. In particular,
the geographical boundary greatly slows down the information
exchange and working process, in which man-made errors inevitably
occur."
"Many manufacturers mistake that computerization is an
enormous investment, which does not guarantee to solve their
problems. In fact, it is not the real scenario." Ms. Karen
Chow continued. "With the right I.T. partner and the full
support of the company, the deployment of information technology
can raise your company's competitiveness and drives revenue."
Dr. Oliver Yau finally introduced the ERP system to the audience,
"ERP solution is a cost-effective tool for jewelry industry
to streamline the operations. It can assist you to maximize
the your return on investment, lower the inventory and shorten
time to respond to the turbulent market." He concluded,
"The Jewelry ERP System allows you to process urgent, small
quantity, yet price competitively orders quickly in the current
changing market."
Being a session of the joint symposium "Supercharging Manufacturing
in Pearl River Delta", the seminar was greatly supported
